Tips for Securing Texas Film Incentives

A client session in the edit and presentation bay

The Texas Moving Image Industry Incentive Program (TMIIIP) offers real financial support to productions, but the application takes careful planning. Here's an overview. Always confirm current rules with the Texas Film Commission before you apply.

Eligibility

  • In-state spend. Incentive levels depend on your Texas spending. Plan your budget around the thresholds.
  • Residency. A required share of paid cast and crew must be Texas residents, and a required share of the production must happen in Texas.

Documentation

  • Submit an online application with your budget and expected Texas expenditures, plus a script or detailed outline.
  • Collect Declaration of Texas Residency forms from resident cast and crew.

Timeline

Applications must arrive within the window before principal photography begins, and late submissions are not accepted. After you start shooting, confirm your start date with the Film Commission promptly. Check the current guidelines for exact dates.
